  • WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART Overture to Don Giovanni, dramma giocoso in two acts, KV 527
  • JOHANNES BRAHMS Variations on a Theme by Joseph Haydn, Op 56a
  • PIOTR ILICH CHAIKOVSKI Symphony No. 1 in G minor "Winter Dreams", Op 13

* First time by this orchestra

The great protagonist of this event will undoubtedly be the Chinese conductor Muhai Tang, who has just made his debut as conductor of the Zürich Chamber Orchestra, whilst continuing to be honorary conductor of the Australian Queensland Orchestra and the China National Symphony Orchestra, highly reputed posts for an absolutely international career. He has given priority to opera and all types of music with a stage component, in addition to chamber orchestra repertoires. This programme reflects some of these leanings. It will open with the Don Giovanni overture, followed by Johannes Brahms' superb Variations on a Theme by Haydn. A lesser-known but extremely magical and evocative Tchaikovsky, Symphony no. 1 "Winter Dreams", will round off the programme.
