* First time by this orchestra
Lan Shui, the Chinese conductor of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, has become a regular baton in the most important American orchestras and an artist for the prestigious Swedish label BIS, for which he has already recorded sixteen compact discs. In this programme, he intends to continue disseminating the orchestral works of Richard Strauss, whose symphonic poems and suites are becoming one of the main artistic objectives of chief conductor Lü Jia. The presence of the young Ukrainian violinist Valeriy Sokolov, who, at barely twenty-three years of age, is an artist for EMI, will set a milestone in the great festival of violinists offered by the OST season. For our public, he will take on one of the jewels of the universal violin repertoire, P. I. Tchaikovsky's Concerto in D major.
