  • FERDINAND DAVID Concertino for trombone and orchestra in E-flat major, Op 4 -orchestration by Christian Lindberg after a reduction for piano; cadenza by Ch. Lindberg-
  • JAN SANDSTRÖM A Motorbike Odyssey, concerto for tenor trombone and orchestra*
  • SERGEI RAJMANINOV Symphony No. 1 in D minor, Op 13

*First time by this orchestra

Two stars take the leading role in this Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife concert, which, under the baton of its chief conductor, Lü Jia, presents two very different, but equally great, figures of composition and interpretation. The entire second part will be devoted to one of the favourite composers with all audiences, the Russian Late-Romantic Sergei Rachmaninoff, with his Symphony no. 1 in D minor. This work, which was a resounding failure after its premiere and caused the composer to suffer a depression, is a more concise and contained piece than his famous second symphony, an intensely personal creation that many consider to be the pinnacle of his symphonic production. The first part will be dedicated to creations for trombone by the greatest present-day virtuoso on this instrument, the Swedish Christian Lindberg, an extroverted, restless artist with extraordinary communication and innovation skills.
