* First time by this orchestra

Just before Christmas is the ideal time for the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife to make room in its schedule for young fast-rising figures who are likely to become highly reputed in classical interpretation worldwide. This is the case of the promising Polish conductor Michal Nesterowicz, who, after making his debut with all the major orchestras in his native country, has just won the Cadaqués Orchestra Conducting Competition. This is also the case of Martina Filjac, the young Croatian pianist who is already performing with numerous international orchestras and won the María Canals Competition in 2008. Filjac will take on Béla Bartók's Piano Concerto no. 3. The programme will be rounded off with Jan Sibelius' Symphony no. 2 and an absolute premiere, Gerok, by the Spanish Isabel Urrutia, which won the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras' Composition Competition.
