La voix humaine, with a libretto written by Jean Cocteau, is a monologue that talks about despair, loneliness and the need to love and be loved. In a final act of despair, a woman is at the phone trying to prevent her lover from abandoning her, but he has already made his decision. It is a trip where, little by little, she plunges into hopelessness. With his incisive music, Poulenc masterfully transmits a vulnerable woman's anguish. This Tenerife Auditorium production is directed by Román Calleja.
