La voix humaine, with a libretto written by Jean Cocteau, is a monologue that talks about despair, loneliness and the need to love and be loved. In a final act of despair, a woman is at the phone trying to prevent her lover from abandoning her, but he has already made his decision. It is a trip where, little by little, she plunges into hopelessness. With his incisive music, Poulenc masterfully transmits a vulnerable woman's anguish. This Tenerife Auditorium production is directed by Román Calleja.

The greatest example of Italian veristic opera, I pagliacci is also the most refined expression of this style. It stands out for its beautiful libretto, its expressive intensity and Canio's two arias, which are amongst the favourite of singers and audiences. A tragedy of jealousy, betrayal and death written with elegance and dramatic authenticity.

Giancarlo del Monaco is the stage director of I pagliacci. A production of the Royal Theatre in Madrid, it received the Best Stage Direction Award 2007 from the Campoamor Theatre Lyric Awards Foundation in Oviedo.
