Manuel Hernández Silva

Conductor

Manuel Hernández Silva (Caracas 1962) is Chief and Artistic Director of the Orquesta de Córdoba since the 2005-2006 season. M. Hernández Silva studied with Reinhard Schwarz and Georg Mark in Viena, finishing in 1989 with honours. The same year he won the Conductors Competition of the Forum Jüngerkünstlern of the Wiener Kamerorchester, conducting this orchestra in the Konzerthaus in Vienna and in the Brucknerhaus of the city of Linz.

M. Hernández Silva was invited to the Wiener Symphoniker, Radio Symphony Orchestra of Prague, Wdr Rundfunk-Orchester Köln in Germany; Nord-Tchekische Filarmonie, Tchekische Philarmoniker Kamerorchester, Karlsbad Symphoniker and Olomouc Philarmoniker in the Czech Republic, Kbs Orchestra of Seúl ‒Korea‒, Orquesta Sinfónica de Venezuela, Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico, Orquesta Sinfónica de Colombia, Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, Orquesta Sinfónica de México, Orquesta Municipal de Caracas, Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, de Venezuela y Orquesta Sinfónica de Murcia, among others.

He was invited to conduct the New Year Concerts in Canada, where he worked with the Calgary Philarmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Toronto Symphony, Orchestre symphonique d'Ottawa, and in the USA, where he worked with West Palm Beach Opera, Hartford Symphony, San Diego Symphony and Portland Symphony, among others. He got a big success in the Boston Symphonie Hall with the Hartford Symphony, on January 2004, as well as with the Toronto Symphony in the Allice Tully Hall, on January 2005.

His activity as a teacher includes international courses, conferences and conducting master classes in the Conservatory of Vienna.

Recently he was invited again to the Wiener Symphoniker in the Musikverein Hall, to record a cd with this orchestra, and again to the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Prague, as well as some of the best Spanish Orchestras. Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Sinfónica de Bilbao, Orquestra del Vallés, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Ciudad de Granada, de Radio Televisión Española, Oviedo Filarmonía y Orquesta de la Región de Murcia, etc.
