  • GUSTAVO DÍAZ JEREZ Aranfaybo*
  • BOHUSLAV MARTINŮ Concerto for violin and orchestra No. 2, H 293
  • LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major “Eroica”, Op 55

* First time by this orchestra

The official season of the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife opens with one of the great international violin players, the German Frank Peter Zimmermann, who has countless engagements with the top orchestra groups worldwide and devotes himself with equal passion to both the most established titles of the classical repertoire and new creations. A sample of his love for 20th-century music can be seen in B. Martinů's second violin concerto, which reflects the Romanian composer's peculiar eclecticism inspired by a Brahms-style Romanticism. Beethoven's Symphony no. 3 will offer the audience one of its favourite titles and an excellent exhibition piece for Lü Jia and our symphony orchestra. The programme will begin with Aranfaybo, by Gustavo Díaz Jerez, one of the most prestigious Canary Islands creators and pianists, placing us firmly in the here and now.
